Thomas Myer, Principal Consultant

Principal, chief strategist, and rainmaker.

Help companies develop coherent strategies for building web and mobile applications, train them on social media and content management tools, build integrations with existing systems, and develop custom web/mobile applications.

Recent projects include:

  • Content strategy and architecture. Help clients develop a coherent content strategy, identify objectives, and create content teams that execute on time, on budget, and on message. Maintain open lines of communication between business stakeholders, users, marketing/design, and technical team.
  • Copywriting. Work closely with clients to develop web copy, case studies, white papers, and articles for their web sites and publications.
  • Business systems analysis/information architecture. Evaluate social media, content management, and email distribution tools for the enterprise.  Research and vet vendors, create use cases, and present options to IT management for future testing within the lines of business. Train users on new systems.
  • Application development. PHP development, Roku development, PhoneGap development, and Twitter/Facebook API applications.

I’ve specialized in web content projects since 2004, doing everything from migrating content to taking the lead on a content team to get large projects completed on time and on budget. In the past, I’ve been an editor at a publishing company and a sergeant in the United States Air Force.

Custom CMS

Hart InterCivic. Content migration; image placement; implementing and coordinating content creation with marketing staff; working within accessibility guidelines; developing training materials on the CMS and training marketing staff on use of the custom CMS.

LifeSize. Content migration of English as well as 4 international language versions of the site (French, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Modern Chinese); hands-on content work including images and video integration as well as managing a 3-person team of content specialists to complete this huge project on time and on budget.

Spinal Concepts. Worked closely with developers and marketing staff to implement new site content; migrated large database of medical supplies into new customized system for use by national sales team; proofed and edited new and existing content as needed before site launch.

Symbol Technologies. Worked closely with a separate design firm to project manage 6-person development team and coordinate massive content migration for this international company’s new web site; trained staff on use of CMS.

WiFi Alliance. Project managed and coordinated development and content teams; assisted migrated content to the new custom site, working closely with marketing staff to ensure smooth process.

Open Source CMS

MomentumSI. Worked closely with marketing VP and developer to map, coordinate, edit, and customize complete site redo including vast changes in content, images, and site design. Used WordPress with many customized changes and additions to meet client needs. Verified all links from the site, searched and fixed broken links, edited content, pulled down images/customer logos as needed.

Milwood NA. Used WordPress to do a complete site upgrade to modernize look/feel, improve usability for contributors and clean up many years worth of legacy content. Added database plugin (with developer customizations) to track neighborhood members list; integrated site with PayPal to allow membership dues payments online.
